The New York and Amsterdam Declarations, together with France\u2019s National Strategy on Imported Deforestation (SNDI), adopted before the European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), reflect strong public and private interest in making agricultural and forestry value chains more responsible, especially in relation to their impact on forests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
French think tank on tropical forests, CST For\u00eat has already examined the implications and implementation details of these commitments\/regulations. It has now started reviewing how the private sector is handling the EUDR requirements. But given the rapid development of a wide range of tools, there is a need to update this information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on deforestation-free value chains, AFD is supporting a dedicated Technical Facility managed by the European Forest Institute (EFI), facilitating the understanding of EUDR requirements and response at local level to those. Solutions include the development and promotion of numerous open-source tools designed by various organizations. Other tools are also developed by AFD partners or CST-F members, covering areas like geolocation of production sites, traceability along supply chains, estimation of \u201cforest footprint\u201d or assessment of the risk of deforestation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This one-day event will provide a brief overview of existing tools, with the aim of encouraging their uptake, informing the future work of CST For\u00eat, and benefiting interested stakeholders more broadly, particularly members of EFI\u2019s Community of Practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
