A \u20ac1.5 million contribution from <\/span>Spain\u2019s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Enterprise<\/strong> is set to enable a <\/span>digital platform <\/b>built by the<\/span> International Trade Centre (ITC) to support Latin American businesses<\/b><\/span> to meet new regulations to access the European Union market.<\/span><\/p>

The ITC Deforestation-Free Trade Gateway (DFTG)<\/strong> supports companies to collect farm-level data, prepare due diligence statements and demonstrate compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).<\/strong><\/p>

The pilot phase of the DFTG focused on coffee value chains in five Latin American countries<\/strong>. The platform\u2019s design allows it to expand to other geographical locations and commodities covered by the regulation \u2013 Spain\u2019s support will expand the platform\u2019s reach and functionality.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For farmers and exporters across Latin America<\/strong>, the new regulation can be overwhelming and stretch their capacity.<\/p>

Each European buyer could request information proving compliance using different systems – an unmanageable task for small producers already struggling with limited time and resources.<\/p>

The DFTG solves this challenge by creating a single-entry point for all EUDR-related data<\/strong>. Through the platform, producers, cooperatives and exporters in producing countries can upload their farm-level information once and grant access to multiple EU operators<\/strong> who can use it to prepare their due diligence statements.<\/p>

This shared system<\/strong> saves time, reduces duplication and gives all the users full control over how their data is shared and used. It also helps European operators verify compliance faster and more consistently \u2014 keeping trade flowing while protecting forests.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
