It draws on a <strong>systematic review of 21 global forest tree cover datasets<\/strong> and their applicability as EUDR-reference maps by Freitas-Beyer et al. (2025).\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Only eight datasets meet key spatial, temporal, and definitional criteria for EUDR compliance checks, <\/strong>and<strong> only two <\/strong>datasets<strong> matched all three EUDR forest definition criteria: canopy cover (\u226510%), tree height (\u22655m), and minimum mapping unit (\u22650.5 ha).<\/strong> The findings reveal significant over- and underestimation patterns, inconsistencies in forest definitions, and regional data limitations.
