In Indonesia and Malaysia—two of the world’s leading producers of palm oil and major exporters of cocoa and rubber—stakeholders have begun developing and piloting traceability systems to comply with EUDR and strengthen their competitive advantage. These include company-led platforms, third-party digital solutions, and national-scale initiatives that aim to integrate smallholders into traceable and transparent supply chains. However, major capacity, interoperability, and accessibility gaps remain—particularly for smallholder producers and intermediary actors.
After three roundtable discussions and exchanges at local level, roundtable discussion 4 (RTD#4) advances the agenda by focusing on traceability as a key operational enabler for both regulatory compliance and long-term competitiveness. The dialogue will provide a platform for governments, producers, traders, buyers, and solution providers to share practical models, strengthen cross-country alignment, and identify pathways to scale inclusive and interoperable traceability systems—ensuring that no producer is left behind in the transition to deforestation-free value chains.
