Traceability and Transparency in Mercosur: EUDR-readiness in the Beef Supply Chains

In October 2024, several organizations from the beef sector participated in the Workshop “Traceability and transparency in Mercosur: EUDR – readiness in the beef supply chain”, a side event of the global conference on sustainable beef. The event was organized by Solidaridad, Tropical Forest Alliance and Proforest, with the support of the European Union, German Embassy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and GIZ. The Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef also partnered with the workshop’s organization.

At the event, representants from Mercosur countries, including producers, governments, embassies, civil society organizations, as well as cattle companies, identified and discussed the questions that need to be addressed in collaboration to enable imports from Mercosur countries to meet the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and Mercosur’s readiness and advances already made to meet these requirements.
