This report examines geolocation data collection tools used across Indonesia’s palm oil supply chains, based on a survey of 11 organisations under the ATLAS project. It reviews existing tools, their functionalities, and key challenges affecting traceability and compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
The findings highlight widespread use of GPS devices, mobile applications, and GIS software, but identify fragmented systems, manual data exchange, limited connectivity, and weak interoperability as major constraints.
The report recommends integrated, offline-capable mobile workflows, automated data quality controls, centralised data management, and stronger links with government systems to improve data reliability, streamline traceability, and support EUDR readiness.
