EUDR Community of Practice

The EUDR Community of Practice (CoP) supports the transition to legal and deforestation‑free value chains by facilitating practical collaboration among stakeholders involved in the implementation of the EU Regulation on Deforestation‑Free Products (EUDR).

Established as a public‑private partnership by the EU Sustainable Supply Chains Coalition and the European Forest Institute (EFI), the Community of Practice complements the broader objectives of the Team Europe Initiative (TEI) on Deforestation‑free Value Chains by focusing on operational and technical aspects of EUDR implementation.

How the Community of Practice contributes to the TEI

The Community of Practice contributes to the TEI by:

  • Supporting dialogue between producing‑country stakeholders, businesses and EU authorities
  • Sharing implementation experience and lessons learned across value chains
  • Identifying recurring challenges relevant to producer countries and smallholders
  • Promoting practical solutions aligned with EUDR market requirements

Insights generated through the Community of Practice feed into broader TEI knowledge‑sharing and coordination efforts.

Focus and scope

The Community of Practice focuses on:

  • Practical implementation challenges related to EUDR compliance
  • Technical and operational questions arising along value chains
  • Cross‑commodity learning and experience sharing
  • Structured exchanges, including dry‑run testing of approaches

It does not provide formal guidance or policy interpretation.

Structure

The Community of Practice consists of:

  • A technical core group with representatives from business, civil society and public authorities
  • A wider community of stakeholders receiving updates and contributing input through surveys and feedback mechanisms

EFI provides secretariat support and ensures coordination with TEI activities and communication channels.

Relationship to other EUDR platforms

The Community of Practice complements:

  • The European Commission’s Multistakeholder Platform on Protecting and Restoring the World’s Forests
  • Country‑level and regional TEI activities by offering a targeted, technical space for operational exchange.
