This report assesses Tanzania’s preparedness for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) in the coffee sector. It reviews traceability systems, forest monitoring, legal frameworks and land-use practices. Tanzania’s coffee trade system, overseen by the Tanzanian Coffee Board (TCB), provides a strong basis for traceability from AMCOS to export. However, geolocation data collection and first-mile traceability remain incomplete. Forest monitoring systems exist, but national reference data for 2020 is unavailable. Legal land tenure is generally secure, though clarity on applicable laws is needed. The EUDR presents an opportunity to strengthen governance, improve data systems and enhance sustainability in Tanzania’s coffee sector.
