About the project

AL-INVEST Verde is a programme funded by the European Commission for promoting sustainable growth and job creation in Latin America. It aims to support the transition towards a low-carbon, resource-efficient and more circular economy, to facilitate the implementation of sustainable production models.
It has a budget of 37.7 million euros and a duration of 60 months. It started in December 2021 and will end in September 2026.

Overarching Aim

In its development, the programme is divided into three components working respectively with Latin American small businesses, public institutions in the region and the management of intellectual property rights:

Managing funds for the implementation of innovative partnership projects between organisations in Latin America and the European Union

Providing technical assistance to the Latin American public sector to promote sustainable value chains

Promoting the use of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) as a crucial driver of competitiveness and innovation to protect value generation by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)

    sustainable management of natural resources and livelihood creation
  • Support farmers to produce soy in line with the EUDR and increase productivity, and implement transparency and traceability pilots

Key activities:
  • Empowering Smallholder Farmers and Farmer Organizations by facilitating traceability and legality, building capacity on Good Agriculture Practices (GAP), and strengthening farmer organizations, ensuring inclusive support for both men and women farmers.
  • Promoting sustainable practices and collaboration by supporting village HCV/HCS conservation efforts, testing and strengthening the National Dashboard for traceability and legality, and fostering national and regional exchanges.
