This report assesses forest and land-use monitoring systems in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in relation to the requirements of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). It aims to support EU–Lao dialogue on deforestation-free value chains by clarifying the capabilities and limitations of national systems for regulatory purposes. Based on a desk review, technical assessment, and 31 stakeholder interviews, it analyses key national tools, including the National Forest Monitoring System, forest inventories, land-use maps, and REDD+ reporting frameworks.
