This report assesses Ghana’s preparedness for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), focusing on cocoa sector compliance. It reviews national traceability systems, forest monitoring tools and legal frameworks relevant to deforestation-free and legal production. Ghana has made notable progress, including the development of the Ghana Cocoa Traceability System (GCTS), mapping of cocoa farms, and efforts to define forest boundaries. However, challenges remain regarding data accessibility, system interoperability, and verification of legality. Strengthening governance, transparency and stakeholder collaboration is essential to support operators’ due diligence and ensure cocoa’s eligibility for placement on the EU market.
