The forestry-wood sector in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay

The processes of deforestation worldwide represent one of the greatest global challenges and are increasingly drawing the attention of civil society, consumers, and governments, not only in the most developed countries. In this context, the European Union has approved Regulation (EU) 2023/1115 (EUDR), concerning the marketing within the Union and the export from the Union of certain raw materials and products associated with deforestation and forest degradation. This report analyses the situation of the timber-forestry sector in MERCOSUR countries, the identified issues, and the progress toward a new production model.
