This factsheet provides essential information on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) as it applies to Cameroon’s cocoa sector. In 2020, 65% of Cameroon’s cocoa was exported to the EU. The EUDR requires companies to ensure that cocoa and derived products placed on or exported from the EU market are not linked to deforestation after 31 December 2020. The regulation mandates traceability to the plot of origin, legal compliance, and segregation of deforestation-free cocoa throughout the supply chain. A benchmarking system will categorise countries by deforestation risk, influencing the level of due diligence required for market access.
