This report analyses the strategic relevance of MERCOSUR as a global supplier of soybeans and agro-industrial derivatives, in a context in which sustainability has become a central requirement for international trade. Soybeans are the world’s main source of vegetable protein, used for animal feed, biofuels, and more than 1,500 food and industrial applications. The bloc produces over half of the world’s soybean crop and exports nearly 70% of global soybean meal and oil, positioning it as a key actor in global food security and in the trade balance of its member countries.
