This guide provides a structured approach to analyze and mitigate risks in supply chains. It focuses on six areas: (1) availability and reliability of supply‑chain information; (2) risk of mixing/substitution; (3) general context risks; (4) national/subnational production‑level risks; (5) chain‑specific risks across nodes; and (6) the role and limitations of certification, including benchmarking and assurance quality.
It outlines “avoid” (switch chain/source) and “control” (additional evidence, audits, technology, stakeholder consultation) strategies.
