This module presents recommendations to support due diligence on the legality of cocoa from Côte d’Ivoire under the EUDR. It details how to verify compliance with national legal requirements across land-use rights, environmental protection, third parties’ rights, tax, anti-corruption, trade and customs, labour rights, and human rights. The tool provides specific due diligence recommendations for conventional cocoa and summarises how ARS-1000 certification can be used to demonstrate compliance where relevant. Recommendations are based on risk assessment, stakeholder consultation, and the level of implementation of each requirement. The approach is pragmatic, adaptable, and designed to harmonise due diligence and facilitate compliance in a changing regulatory context.
