EUDR session during the 65th Inter-African Coffee Organization Annual General Assembly
This report summarizes the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) readiness session held during the 65th Inter-African Coffee Organization (IACO) Annual General Assembly in Bujumbura, Burundi (2–3 December 2025). The session was organized by GIZ and ITC at the request of IACO and brought together approximately 150 stakeholders from government, the private sector, and producer organizations. Discussions focused on progress toward EUDR readiness, including deforestation-free production, traceability, and legality. While countries such as Kenya and Burundi showcased advanced geo-mapping and traceability systems, significant gaps remain, particularly on legality compliance. Data governance, farmer protection, and sustained public–private collaboration was identified as critical for inclusive and credible compliance requirement.
