This report assesses Kenya’s preparedness for the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) in the coffee sector. It reviews traceability systems, forest monitoring, legal frameworks and smallholder inclusion. Kenya has a well-regulated coffee sector and established traceability from wet mill to export, but geolocation data and farmer registries remain fragmented. Forest monitoring systems are in place, and coffee is not a driver of deforestation. Legal land tenure is generally secure, though child labour awareness and cooperative governance require attention. The EUDR presents an opportunity to strengthen Kenya’s coffee value chain, improve sustainability and enhance its position in international markets.
